......When you feel ready
Do I have to wait for my 6 week check?
No, there are exercises you can do as soon as you do your first wee! Although it’s about taking it slow, steady and gradually building on frequency, intensity, time and type of activity.

Many women feel like you have to wait until your 6 week check before starting exercise although if you have experienced a 6 week check, you know how disappointing this can be. There is very little focus on how YOU are doing physically and mentally and it’s mostly seeing if the baby is well and at weight. It’s never a sign off from the docs to start moving again, plus not all 6 week checks are at 6 weeks and can be a lot longer. All this said It’s not necessary to wait if you feel ready to move again.
There are some great exercises that will really benefit you early on (if you feel up to it) like breathing, pelvic floor exercises, pelvic tilts and walking. If you are keen to get moving again, be sure to give yourself time and take it slow by gradually building up to more.
Keep an eye out for another post of mine on what exercising you can do early on.
All this is covered in my Sets and Reps Mums group postnatal programme which is due to open again in February 2023. Be the first to know to when enrolment opens here.
